Man Sought For Rape Of 49-Year-Old Woman In Maspeth: NYPD

Police are searching for the man who raped a 49-year-old woman in Maspeth on Sunday, the NYPD said.

QUEENS — A 49-year-old woman was raped in Maspeth on Sunday morning, police said.

The woman was walking home around 5 a.m. when a man riding a motorized scooter started talking to her, and then she climbed onto the back of the scooter, the NYPD said.

They arrived at 48th Avenue, near 72nd Street, and then he punched her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness, authorities said.

He raped her, and when she regained consciousness, he fled on the scooter, police said.

The 49-year-old was taken to NYC Health and Hospital/ Elmhurst in stable condition, the NYPD said.

The man is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds, authorities said. Police released images of the man on Wednesday.
