MTA Bus Driver Charged For Fatal Hit-And-Run That Killed Pedestrian
Amesha Keys, 31, was killed when she was struck by a bus near Bedell Street and Baisley Boulevard.
QUEENS, NY — A 54-year-old bus driver has been arrested and charged for a fatal hit-and-run in Queens back in August, police announced.
Michelle Washington has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to use due care after she fatally struck Amesha Keys, 31, while operating a 2016 NOVA bus traveling west on Baisley Boulevard on Aug. 6, police said.
Washington was attempting to make a left turn on Bedell Street before she hit Keys, who was crossing the street, police said.

The bus did not remain at the scene.
Keys was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on Aug. 7 as a result of injuries sustained from being struck by the bus.
