3 Nabbed In Riverhead Underage Drinking Enforcement Sweep: PD

RIVERHEAD, NY— Three store employees were nabbed Wednesday during an underage drinking enforcement sweep in Riverhead, police said.

The Riverhead Town Police Department's community oriented police enforcement, or COPE, division, with cooperation from the Riverhead Community Awareness Program, conducted State Liquor Authority compliance checks at 12 retail vendors throughout Riverhead, resulting in three arrests, authorities said.

The compliance check targeted the sale of alcohol products to patrons under the age of 21.

The following vendors were found not to be in compliance, police said:

1: Stop and Shop, 1615 Old Country Road, Riverhead

2: Bolla Market, 3705 Middle Country Road, Calverton

3: Speedway, 6305 NY-25A, Wading River

A 71- year-old Calverton man, who is an employee of Stop and Stop; a man, 32, of Calverton, who works at Bolla Market; and a 26-year-old man of Wading River who's employed at Speedway were arrested; each was charged with one count of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a misdemeanor, police said.

All three men were processed and released on a desk appearance ticket with a future court date, police said.

7: Riverhead Liquor Mart, 1866 Old Country Road, Riverhead

8: 7-Eleven, 162 Old Country Road, Riverhead

9: One Stop Smoke Shop, 1698 Old Country Road, Riverhead
