Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:

  1. Adopt a senior dog from your local Hamptons Shelter. Just because an older dog is in a shelter doesn’t mean it has problems or behavioral issues; many adults and seniors end up alone after an owner dies, loses their home or endures an equally difficult life change. (Dan's Papers)
  2. North Fork vineyard workers make history as first farm laborers union in New York State. The Pindar union is a historic first for New York State after an appellate court decision in 2019 found that the 1937 State Employment Relations Act violated the right of workers to organize and collectively bargain outlined in the New York State Constitution. The passage of the Farm Laborers Fair Labor Practices Act in 2019 gave farm workers the same employment rights as workers in other industries under the law. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  3. Police seek public's help to find runaways from Timothy Hill. Jadarrius Hunt, 14; Malachi Sweatte, 16; and Jose Castro, 16, left the Timothy Hill facility on Middle Road Nov. 13 at approximately 8 p.m. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hunt, Sweatte and Castro is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at (631) 727-4500.
