Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:

  1. Downtown Riverhead's "Holiday Hop" pub crawl is set for Friday night. Starting at 6 p.m., “Crawlers” can check in at the Riverwalk Bar and Grille, where they will hop to several craft beverage locations — North Fork Brewing Company, Montauk Distilling, Tradewinds Brewing Company and Peconic County Brewing Company — with exclusive drink menus and deals, including $5 craft beer pours. The bar-hop is accompanied by a digital scavenger hunt. Checking into all locations earns participants a raffle entry to win one of 10 $50 e-Gift Cards to venues across downtown Riverhead. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  2. A second man was arrested and charged after gunshots were fired on the property of a Sound Avenue residence in Calverton in October. Monday, Riverhead Police arrested Adrian Johnson, 18, of Riverhead; he was charged with first-degree attempted assault and first-degree reckless endangerment. (Riverhead Patch)
  3. New übergeek beer helps NY Marine Rescue Center save endangered sea turtles. What could be better than beer for a good cause? With this in mind, Riverhead’s übergeek Brewing Co. has partnered with the New York Marine Rescue Center (NYMRC) to create “I never asked to be here,” a brand new, limited-run winter warmer ale that supports the nonprofit organization’s mission, with a special focus on the plight of cold stunned sea turtles on the East End.
NYMRC, located at the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead, receives $1 for every pour of übergeek’s “I never asked to be here” brew, but the partnership doesn’t end there. Read on. (Long Island Press)
