Here are the top stories today in Riverhead:
- Temple Israel holds community menorah lighting ceremony in downtown Riverhead. Rabbi Michael Roscoe led the ceremony, which was attended by about two dozen people and included prayers and songs. The menorah has been relocated from the riverfront to the southern portion of the grounds of the East End Arts complex, which stretches from Main Street to Heidi Behr Way on the riverfront. - 'Stuff-a-Bus' food drive open for donations outside Wading River Fire Department. Help the local community and donate non-perishable food items or monetary donations to the Wading Riverhead Fire Department Fire Headquarters, 1503 North Country Rd. in Wading River, through New Year’s Day. To arrange a pickup of donations if unable to drop-off, call (631) 886-0122 and leave a message. Monetary donations will be used to purchase food in bulk. (RiverheadLOCAL)
- Shoplifters used anti-theft device, one had a weapon. Riverhead Police have charged three Bay Shore women with petit larceny for removing merchandise from the Polo Ralph Lauren store at Tanger Outlets yesterday afternoon. One of the women is also facing a weapons charge and two are charged with criminal possession of an anti-theft device, according to a report from Riverhead Police. (RiverheadLOCAL)
