- County Plans To Move Riverhead Social Services Office To Former Kmart Building. The Suffolk County Department of Social Services will be relocating to the former Kmart building on Route 58, if plans for the move are approved by the county legislature. (RiverheadLOCAL)
- Man Robbed At Knifepoint In Dollar Tree Parking Lot. A 53-year-old man said he was in his vehicle in the parking lot when a woman got into the car and shut it off. At the same time, two men walked up to the vehicle, opened the driver's side door, and demanded his money while displaying a knife. Money and personal belongings were stolen from the man. The three then fled the area before police arrived, authorities said. (The Patch)
- Riverhead Tries To Pinpoint Where Recreational Marijuana Locations Can Open. A pot dispensary cannot be within 500 feet of a school or within 200 feet of a church so Riverhead town officials are working on figuring out locations where it can and cannot be sold. Riverhead Councilman Ken Rothwell said the town is getting ready to safely allow the sale of recreational marijuana; he said that there will not be any retail locations or consumption places in the town by Jan. 1. - Riverhead Bonfire And Holiday Parade Is Postponed Due To Weather. Downtown Riverhead's Annual Holiday Parade and Bonfire, hosted by the Riverhead Business Improvement District, Town of Riverhead, and Riverhead Lions Club has been postponed to the rain date of Dec. 18 due to a forecast of wind and rain.
