1. A total of three third-prize $50,000 winning Powerball tickets were sold for the New Year's Day drawing, according to the New York Lottery. One ticket was sold at Royal Mini Mart on Hampton Street in Sag Harbor, the New York Lottery said. The winning tickets each had four matching numbers and the Powerball. The winning numbers for the Powerball drawing on Jan. 1 were: 27-29-45-55-58 and the Powerball was 2. (Patch)
2. Shoreham Wading River School district has joined over 60 other districts on Long Island in offering the Seal of Biliteracy to their students. The Seal of Biliteracy is a formal recognition of students who have studied and obtained a high proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. 3. A new Suffolk County advisory board aims to advocate for LGBTQ+ residents and address issues that may otherwise be overlooked, especially as officials say there are no people in elected county office who openly identify as LGBT. (Patabook News)
