- Founder Of JetBlue Launches Breeze Airways At MacArthur Airport. Airport officials announced at a Monday morning press conference that Breeze Airways will be coming to Long Island's regional airport, which local officials are planning to majorly overhaul with terminal upgrades, a campaign to attract more airlines and a rail connection to the Long Island Rail Road. Breeze was created to fill a gap in connections between secondary, regional airports. So far, the carrier flies to 16 destinations, mostly on the East Coast but also as far west as Texas. Norfolk, Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina are the first two cities that will get direct service, beginning on Feb. 17. (News 12 Brooklyn)
- Two Women Steal Almost $6K In Michael Kors Bags From Tanger. Michael Kors management called police to say the pair had just left the store without paying. The two women had taken about 14 bags. The women were seen getting into a black Audi and fled before police arrived. Soon after, the vehicle was found at the Greenview Inn on West Main Street and one woman was found. Tanya Antoinette Schultheis-Brown, 37, of Riverhead, was arrested and charged with third-degree larceny and possession of burglar's tools; she was held overnight for arraignment, police said. - Santa Parade And Bonfire To Take Place Saturday In Downtown Riverhead. The 69th Riverhead Lions Club Holiday Parade will step off at 3 p.m. on West Main Street and end at the Peconic Riverfront around 4 p.m., where the flames of the 21st annual community bonfire will be roaring. Santa Claus, the guest of honor, will cruise down Main Street in the parade and then take his seat in his gingerbread house on the riverfront. (RiverheadLOCAL)
- Robocall About A Data Breach At LI High School Was Fake. According to Riverhead Town Police, on Monday at 10:09 a.m. a report came in about a robocall from the phone number 631-902-5121 with the caller ID reading "Melissa Frost." When answered, a recorded message stated that the caller was Sgt. Frost of the Riverhead Police Department, referencing a data breach at Riverhead High School, police said. The call was not from the Riverhead Police Department or any other affiliated agency, police said. Those who get the calls are asked to disregard them.
