Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:

  1. Four people were caught with narcotics — and one, with a handgun — during a crackdown on drug dealing by law enforcement in Riverhead, authorities said. On Saturday at 6 a.m., in response to complaints from the community about drug dealing at addresses on Hamilton Avenue and Osborn Avenue in Riverhead, the Suffolk County District Attorney's East End drug task force, Riverhead police, Suffolk County police, and New York State police executed search warrants at both locations, police said. At 332 Hamilton Avenue, heroin/fentanyl, crack cocaine, digital scales and about $3,215 were recovered; additionally, a .380 Smith & Wesson handgun was found, police said. (Patch)
  2. Formerly known as the Patchogue Beer Project, Darling Brewing Co. is moving to the East End of Long Island. The company has not revealed yet where they are moving to, so check back for updates on this developing story. (Greater Long Island)
  3. Tuesday morning, about 4:40 a.m., police said an employee at the Crescent Duck Farm in Aquebogue contacted the department realizing that another person was inside the main building. Police said that surveillance footage showed one male suspect, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, a mask and gloves, searching through the building and removing a "small amount" of money from an office within the building. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500. (Riverhead Patch)
  4. District Attorney Ray Tierney said Tuesday, on April 21, two days after the home invasion where a teen raped a Mastic Beach mom, a teen was brought to the police station where he admitted taking part in the burglary. The suspect consented to a DNA test which later matched to a profile developed from a swab of the victim. The teen was indicted and charged with first-degree rape, criminal sexual act, and sexual abuse, as well as two counts of first-degree assault and burglary. He was additionally charged with one count of second-degree strangulation and endangering the welfare of a child. (Patch)
