1. It's a new year (almost)! Perhaps it's finally time to adopt a pet! Meet Flynn, Tinsel & More. A great place to begin your search is at The North Fork Animal Welfare League, where Hampton the dog is waiting patiently, or another local animal shelter. If you're a cat person, meet Flynn, a Domestic Short Hair up for adoption. Or if dogs are more your thing, there are several great dogs available, too. (Riverhead Patch)
2. Two teenage boys are missing from Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch in Riverhead. Ja-wan Groover, 15, and Anthony Salinas, 17, left the Timothy Hill facility on Middle Road on Christmas Eve at around 12 noon. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ja-wan Groover and Anthony Salinas is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at (631)727-4500. (RiverheadLOCAL)
3. The Wading River family that received a Christmas miracle two years ago when their first baby, Ruby June, received a heart transplant continue to wait for a second miracle — their second child, Everett, also needs a new heart. (Riverhead Patch)
