Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:

1. If you're on a search for a new four-legged friend, consider checking out a local Riverhead area pet adoption agency like Bideawee, where Blizzard the cat is waiting patiently. But that's not all, meet Yogi, Mocha and more! (Riverhead Patch)
2. The winter season is the ideal time to visit the Long Island Aquarium. Why is it the best time? Because it's a little quiet. The Aquarium features friendly sea lions, a butterfly exhibit and much more. Next to the butterflies, is a new exhibit opening this winter with crabs as its main star attraction, where you can view the Malawi blue crab from Southeastern Africa, which, when fully grown, will be about the size of a basketball! 3. This spring you will be seeing community crafted rock gardens of painted stones around town, thanks to the Riverhead Anti-Bias Task Force; their message: "A little kindness goes a long way." According to Cindy Clifford, ABTF chair, the stones will be decorated with heartfelt messages and cheerful designs and the "kindness corners" will be "planted" throughout town. Residents are invited to paint the rocks on their own or visit the Riverhead Free Library through Feb. 28 to create the "little works of art" at the Kindness Corners craft table. (Riverhead Patch)
4. Former U.S. Senator and lobbyist Alfonse D'Amato administered the oath of office to Riverhead Supervisor Yvette Aguiar for a second term as supervisor at Riverhead Town Hall. (RiverheadLOCAL)
