  1. The Riverhead Planning Board will hold a public hearing that will dictate the nature and scope of environmental review for a proposed 131-acre industrial subdivision in Calverton. The Middle Country Road site is west of Splish Splash Water Park, opposite the lavender farm, and extends south to the Long Island Expressway. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  2. Now you can catch a cup of "joe" before boarding your plane at MacArthur Airport. Dunkin Donuts took over the former Fridays location. According to an article in Newsday, the space had been vacant for two years and the coffee chain will occupy a 1,000-square-foot space. (LongIsland.com)
  3. After a two-year pandemic pause, flights are set to take off carrying veterans on free trips to Washington, D.C. and honoring their years of dedicated service. Honor Flight Long Island, a volunteer-run veterans' organization, announced recently that they have resumed biannual flights to Washington, D.C., after two years on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.   4. Late Tuesday night, Suffolk County detectives found two men shot to death inside a home in Selden, police said. Police said in a news release Wednesday morning that Ian Saalfield, 45, of Lake Grove, and the homeowner, Robert Julian, 58 were found in the home. Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. (News 12 Bronx.
  5. According to documents filed with the Smithtown Planning Department, Lake Grove Mall may house one of Long Island’s first arenas for the global $1 billion esports industry. Belong Gaming, a Manhattan-based company, would have 72 gaming stations, bleachers for spectators and large-screen televisions to show gamers’ exploits in real time. (Subscription: Newsday)
