  1. This week at Riverhead Town Hall, the third round of community meetings on the Riverhead Comprehensive Plan Update is underway and will continue. The topics to be covered are as follows: “Housing and Community Services” on Monday, (April 25); “Transportation and Utilities/Infrastructure” on Tuesday, (April 26); and “Agriculture and Farmland and Historic Resources” on Wednesday, (April 27). The comprehensive plan update is currently projected to be completed by spring of next year. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  2. Riverhead Town Board is considering a proposal to bring solar power to Riverhead's landfill on Youngs Avenue. The proposal is to create 3-megawatt solar site on the 70-acre town-owned landfill, which is projected to generate up to 4,327,000 kilowatt-hours per year.(Newsday)
  3. Doreen Dunbar, 50, was arrested on robbery and assault charges Saturday night, Suffolk police said. Dunbar stole a car from St. Mary’s Church parking lot and ran over the owner Lorraine Lombardo, 73, of St. James, who tried to stop her. Lombardo parked near a clothing donation bin and got out with the motor running, police said. (Daily Voice)
  4. A Coram woman was arrested and charged after she burglarized a Wading River garage and fled in a stolen car, police said. Taylor Mahoney, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary as well as fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said. According to Riverhead police, the incident took place on Saturday at 4:05 a.m. on Great Rock Drive; a 911 caller reported someone in the backyard. Mahoney pulled into the driveway in a gray, four-door Hyundai sedan and broke into a detached garage, stealing merchandise from a vehicle inside before being confronted by the homeowner, police said.
