  1. 'Tis the time of year to register for 2022 Riverhead PAL lacrosse. Registration is open until Jan. 13, we are accepting girls and boys in grades Kindergarten through eighth to play for the Riverhead PAL girls or boys lacrosse teams. Forms are available via the Town of Riverhead website or pick up paper forms at the PAL Office Vestibule — 210 Howell Avenue in Riverhead.(RiverheadLOCAL)
  2. Why did the chicken cross the road? Why, to get to Riverhead silly. Chick-fil-A restaurant known for its chicken sandwiches is now included as part of Long Island Cauliflower Association’s proposed 42,000-square-foot retail project in Riverhead. The proposed Chick-fil-A in Riverhead would have 70-indoor seats and 20 outdoor seats, according to town planning aide Greg Bergman. The nearest Chick-fil-A restaurants are currently in Port Jefferson and Smithtown. (Riverhead News Review)
  3. To honor veterans for their service more than 11,000 wreaths were placed at the final resting place of our fallen warriors in Calverton National Cemetery. The wreaths were provided through corporate sponsorships, private donations and fundraisers. Hundreds of volunteers across Long Island took part in “Wreaths Across America” – a national movement to place wreaths at the gravesites of service members at more than 2,500 cemeteries across the country. (News 12 Bronx)
  4. A 65-year-old Shoreham man died in a car crash in Bellport on Saturday. Due to "A medical emergency," Kevin Nash lost control of a 2010 Jeep Patriot westbound on Martha Avenue just east of Bellport Avenue at about 3:33 p.m. Police said that the Jeep veered off the road into a wooded area and overturned. Nash was transported by South Country Ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. (Patch)
