🌱 Riverhead Daily: Suffolk Theater Expansion + Seal Save

Here are the top stories today in Riverhead:

1. Co-owner of Suffolk Theater, Bob Castaldi wants the theater to touch the sky by adding a five-story expansion of the theater. The expansion would add a green room, dressing rooms and other backstage space for the theater. The plan was not initially met with enthusiasm due to parking space issues, they have since been resolved and Castaldi looks forward to the passing of his plan of making the theater the “centerpiece” of its downtown revitalization initiative. 2. Saturday marked the 10th year anniversary of the “Crescent Bow” fire, the Manorville-Ridge-Calverton fire is the third-largest wildfire in Suffolk County since 1964. It took two days for firefighters to bring the blaze under control, with the help of aviation units called in from other parts of the state. Suffolk County, through the efforts of then-County Legislator Ed Romaine, approved funding for fire suppression wells in the area. (RiverheadLOCAL)
3. John Martinolich, 36, a Hampton Bays man, was arrested Saturday night after placing another person in a headlock, causing them to lose consciousness. When police arrived and informed Martinolich he was going to be arrested, he ran. Martinolich is charged with charged with second-degree strangulation, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. 4. Isabella Rossellini's one-woman show will launch this summer at The Gateway in Bellport. The actress lives in Bellport and is embarking on a U.S. tour of her show "Darwin's Spirit" with two benefit performances Aug. 13 and 14. (Subscription:Newsday)
5. Brookhaven Town reached out to "Saturday Night Live" comedians Pete Davidson and Colin Jost to moor the John F. Kennedy, Staten Island Ferry on Long Island. Supervisor Edward P. Romaine promoted the idea that the boat could become a floating entertainment venue. (Subscription: Newsday)
