Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:
- Peconic Bay Medical Center recognized paramedics Matthew Mauro, Joanna Guerrero, and driver Arthur Vansicklen, three EMS members of the Ridge Fire Department, for their life-saving efforts. They responded to a call when a person sustained a significant laceration on their forearm causing serious bleeding. Once transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC), the patient showed significant blood loss, decreased pulse pressure and an increased heart rate. Due to the responsive work of the EMS workers, the patient remained stable and was discharged the next day. (Greater Long Island)
- Teens who went missing recently from the Little Flower Children's Services facility have all returned safely. (Riverhead Patch)
- Under resolutions up for a vote by the town board Tuesday, some of Riverhead Town’s highest paid civilian employees will see raises this year. The Civil Service Employees Association collective bargaining agreement with the Town of Riverhead expires at the end of 2023. The union contract’s 1.5 percent per year pay increase is the basis for the department heads’ annual contract increase. All of the increases were funded in the town’s 2021-2022 adopted budget.
