- The seventh annual ‘Wo/Men Empower Wo/Men’ event will be held on Sunday, May 22 from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Riverhead Moose Lodge. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. "The event honors unsung heroes in the Riverhead community and recognizes the programs and participants" at the Butterfly Effect Project. (RiverheadLOCAL)
- "More than 400 selected lots of quilts, hooked rugs and other textiles ranging from the late 18th to mid-20th century, from the estate of world-renowned quilt expert, dealer and author, Laura Fisher (1945-2021), is happening at South Bay Auctions in East Moriches on Saturday, May 21, starting at 11 a.m." Preview: Sunday, May 15 – 20, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and by appointment. - On Tuesday, the nonprofit organization, Habitat for Humanity, announced a merge with the Nassau and Suffolk chapters to form Habitat for Humanity of Long Island. Leaders of the affiliate to the national organization said the merge will expand services to provide more Long Islanders in need with affordable homes. (Long Island Press)
