Saturday Night Fire Remains Under Investigation
Duo reportedly seen running away from fire, though no arrests reported.
Riverhead Town Fire Marshal Craig Zitek said on Monday that an investigation into a Saturday night fire that engulfed a Sound Avenue home could take up to a couple of weeks while "a number of different angles are being looked at."
Zitek said that while the incident remains under investigation, little in the way of information could be provided, beside the fact that the structure appears to be a "total loss."
Riverhead Fire Department spokesman Bill Sanok said about 50 firefighters between RFD and Wading River Fire Department were on scene for about two hours getting the blaze under control.

The fire broke out around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday on the rear side of 3267 Sound Ave. Upon the arrival of Riverhead Fire Department members, crews reportedly saw a pair of men running from the property, southbound through a field located behing the home.
Police later stopped the duo, though no arrests have been reported in relation to the incident. The detective in charge of the case was unavailable for comment.
