Here are the top stories in Riverhead today:
- Letitia James Eyes Steve Bellone As Gubernatorial Running Mate. Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone is "leading the pack" as a running mate in the attorney general's run for governor, according to reports. Bellone, a Democrat who was re-elected to a third four-year term in 2019, will have reached his executive term limit at the start of 2023, according to Suffolk County rule. Bellone has expressed his own interest in running for governor. (The Patch)
- Tanger and other major Riverhead retailers will be closed on Thanksgiving this year ahead of Black Friday. Tanger Outlets in Riverhead has been open on Thanksgiving night in past years, but scaled back its schedule last year during the pandemic as did many other major retailers. The popular Black Friday destination, that features top brands such as Bloomingdale’s Outlet Store, Saks Off Fifth and Under Armour, will open at 6 a.m. Friday. Some stores will open later and Tanger recommends shoppers check specific stores to confirm opening hours. (Riverhead News Review)
- Search On For Runaway Teen Missing From Timothy Hill Children's Ranch In Riverhead. According to Riverhead Town Police, Jose Castro, 16, is a frequent runaway who has gone missing from the facility, located on Middle Road. Anyone with information about Castro's location is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. (Riverhead Patch)
