Woman, 82, Dies In Head-On Wading River Crash: Police
No charges were filed in the crash that took the life of a Hampton Bays woman, police say.
WADING RIVER, NY — A Hampton Bays woman, 82, died in a head-on crash in Wading River Thursday afternoon, police said.
According to Riverhead Town police, the two-car crash took place at 2:39 p.m. on Middle Country Road near Kay Road; both drivers were injured, police said.
The driver of a 2015 Chevrolet, traveling eastbound, struck a 2010 Toyota, which was traveling westbound, head-on; no passengers were in either vehicle, police said.

The Wading River Fire Department responded to assist in the extrication of both drivers and transport them to area hospitals, police said.
The operator of the 2015 Chevrolet, Kathleen M Cregg, of Hampton Bays, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.

The operator of the 2010 Toyota, a 63-year-old Ridge man, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.
No charges were filed in the crash, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department's detective division responded to the scene to conduct an investigation with the assistance of the New York State Police Department's forensic investigation unit, resulting in a road closure for several hours, police said.
