The 10-year-old was struck by the car at 6 p.m. when he was crossing Main Street at N. Dutcher Street, which is right outside his home. The 10-year-old’s mother said her son rolled off the hood of the car and that the car never stopped travelling on Main Street.

“I am literally disgusted that this individual hit a 10-year-old child and kept going,” she told Patch on April 9.

The boy walked to the police station after accident and reported it to police around 6:20 p.m. He was taken to Phelps Hospital and was medically cleared by their staff.

The Tarrytown man allegedly told police that the 10-year-old ran out in front of his car and that he didn’t think the child was injured since the 10-year-old ran off. The 80-year-old was released on his own recognizance and will appear in court on May 6.
