Dobbs Ferry Firefighters Battle Smoke, Fire At Baseball Field

Dobbs Ferry fire personnel were assisted by multiple mutual aid companies.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — The Dobbs Ferry Fire Department battled a blaze in a building at a baseball field in the village Saturday.

Around 8:15 p.m., firefighters from the Dobbs Ferry department, along with Irvington Ladder 36, were sent to the Gould Park baseball field for a report of smoke from the park house.

Arriving responders said there was an active fire and additional mutual aid was requested.

Hazmat teams from Westchester County were sent to the park as a precaution because of the proximity of the fire to the park house’s chlorine room. Officials said the room was not affected by the fire.

Fire officials said the fire was under control within two hours.

Dobbs Ferry was assisted at the scene by departments from Irvington, Ardsley, Hastings-on-Hudson, Fairview, Port Chester, Millwood and Westchester County Emergency Services.
