Full Schedule Saturday at O’Hara Nature Center

Help clean up the garden and trails, meet the local animals and learn about composting.

The O’Hara Nature Center, 170 Mountain Rd. in Irvington, has a busy day Saturday, April 6 with a full schedule of events.

The day starts at 9 a.m. whenJoanie Dinowitz from Langdon Farms will teach those in attendance about composting and will help prepare the demonstration gardens at the center.

Dinowitz is a composter, suburban farmer and home energy auditor who has lived in the Rivertowns for 13 years.

Be sure to bring stacks of old newspapers (only the ones with biodegradable ink, leave the glossy sections at home).

Then from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. volunteers, including the local Girl Scouts, will help to fix and clear garbage and sticks off the trails and help prepare garden beds. At 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. the O'Hara Nature Center will partner with the Greenburgh Nature Center to offer a workshop on “Animals of the Irvington Woods” for children of all ages.
