In Tight Game, Hastings 10U Baseball Falls to Tuckahoe

Hastings refused to quit in a tough matchup last week.

The following is from Hastings-on-Hudson Little League:

The Hastings 10u Baseball team completed week three of the regular season by losing to Tuckahoe, 8-7.

Hastings fell behind 4-0 after the first inning, but managed to climb back into the game and tied the score 4-4 after 2 and ½ innings. Ian Forman started the rally for Hastings by working a walk. Tyler Ossen and Rex Jacobson continued the patient hitting by each earning a walk to load the bases. Jeremy Raynes-Goldfinger was then hit by a pitch and picked up an RBI and the lead was cut to 4-1. Kevin Dosin and Chris Capuano each singled in runs and the score was tied 4-4.

However, Tuckahoe bounced right back in their half of the third inning by scoring 2 runs to take a 6-4 lead after 3 full innings. Hastings answered right back in the 4th inning by scoring 2 runs to tie the game 6-6. Chris Rotiroti walked and scored on a double hit by Jake Magaro cutting the lead to 6-5. Magaro stole 3rd base and scored on a pass ball tying the game 6-6.

The score remained tied until the bottom of the 5th inning when Tuckahoe scored giving them a 7-6 advantage with one inning remaining. However, Hastings while taking their last at bats refused to quit and tied the game 7-7 on the timely hitting of Chris Capuano, Chris Rotiroti and Jude Jorger.

Unfortunately, Hastings could not hold the lead and Tuckahoe won the game in walk off fashion earning an 8-7 victory.

"I am so proud of the team; they never quit and fought to the very end. What more could you ask for?” said Hastings 10 U Coach David Dosin.

The season continues in full swing next week with single games against New Castle, White Plains and one double header game against East Yonkers.
