Irvington PD Issues 73 Summonses During Checkpoint
The following is a press release from the Irvington Police Department.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2013 the Irvington Police Department in conjunction with the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, the Westchester County Solid Waste Commission and the Westchester County Department of Consumer Affairs conducted a Commercial/Passenger Vehicle and Traffic Safety Checkpoint on Route 9 in Irvington.
This checkpoint is one component of the Irvington Police Department’s continuing effort to take unsafe trucks off our local roads, increase compliance with the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law and assure that Home Improvement contractors doing business in our community are properly licensed.
The checkpoint was in operation from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm, with the truck inspections taking place in the Immaculate Conception Church parking lot.

Based upon data recovered from a License Plate Reader used at the checkpoint, 5727 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.
A total of 73 summonses were issued for various violations that included various infractions of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law, Environmental Conservation Law, Tax Law and the Transportation Law:

-3 misdemeanor arrests for operating vehicles while the registration was suspended or revoked.
-1 misdemeanor arrest for operating a motor vehicle while the operator’s license was suspended.
- 2 drivers were summonsed for driving without a license.
-22 Home Improvement contractors were checked, 3 were summonsed for Operating without a Home Improvement License and 1 for Deceptive Trade Practice.
-4 vehicles were impounded.
-5 trucks were temporarily taken out of service until defective equipment was replaced or repaired on site.
