A Hastings-on-Hudson resident is hoping to help children in the Dominican Republic – and she needs your help to get there.
Elizabeth Youngs wants to spend her spring break by helping out those in need. Here is part of her GoFundMe post:
Hi everyone! I did not make this page to help me get to the Dominican Republic, but to help the children of DR. I will be going on a service trip to the DR on my spring break. I would love some donated art materials or money to buy art materials. There are are so many children in the orphanage of La Romana that I am afraid that we will not have enough. A large group of art therapists and graduate art therapy students will be spending a week in an orphanage in La Romana, using art as a therapeutic tool. Last year a group of us went on a similar art therapy trip to Nicaragua and spent a week in a special needs school. These populations are in dire need of love, empathy, and to be seen and known. Art is a beautiful tool for communication and expression. My desire is to not only learn and grow as an art therapist, but to touch the lives of these young children that are yearning for love. Please be a part of my mission and help these young orphaned children of DR by donating any art materials or money to buy art materials.
