Man Examines Bills, Leaves $240 Behind

The Dobbs Ferry resident said he was examining crisp new bills he received at a Chase Bank ATM and forgot to take the money with him.

A 52-year-old Dobbs Ferry resident said that $240 that he left behind at the Chase Bank, 12 Ashford Ave., on Feb. 3 around noon was missing when he returned 20 minutes later.

According to police, the man took out $400 from the bank’s ATM and separated out $240 worth of bills that were crisp new bills. He told police that he then examined each of the bills “for authenticity” and accidently left them behind. He realized this about 20 minutes later when he was at the Stop & Shop in Dobbs Ferry. When he returned they were missing. The 52-year-old reported the incident to police on Feb. 4 at 9 a.m.
