YONKERS, NY — A Yonkers police officer is in the hospital after being struck by a car late Thursday evening.

Yonkers police are investigating the collision involving one vehicle and one pedestrian that happened just after 9 p.m. on Thursday, at Tuckahoe Road and E. Grassy Sprain Road.

The driver remained on scene, and the crash is being investigated strictly as an accident at this time, with no criminal element, according to the most recent statement from the YPD.

The pedestrian was an off-duty Yonkers Police Department officer, according to the department. The officer's identity has not been publicly released. He is currently in stable condition at the hospital, according to officials.
