Police: Homeowner Interrupts Attempted Burglary

A 47-year-old Hastings-on-Hudson resident entered her home on Mount Hope Boulevard on Oct. 5 at 2:58 p.m. to find someone standing in the rear of her home that she didn’t know. 

The stranger, who is believed to have allegedly entered through an open kitchen window, immediately ran out of the house and jumped into a black Chevrolet that was last seen on Southgate Avenue, police said.

Police said they believe the suspect was allegedly attempting to rob the home.

The homeowner, who took down the car’s license plate number, immediately called police. Police discovered that the car belonged to a male who lived on Highland Avenue in Yonkers. A countywide alert was issued and Hastings-on-Hudson and Yonkers Police waited near the car owner’s home.

Sally Revel was stopped in the car about two blocks from Highland Avenue and was allegedly positively identified as the suspect, according to police.

Revel, a 44-year-old Yonkers resident, was arrested, charged with criminal trespassing in the second degree a misdemeanor and held on $30,000 bail.
