Two Dobbs Ferry women, accused of trying to steal $254 worth of groceries, were arrested for petty larceny.

Two Dobbs Ferry women are accused of attempting to steal $254.48 worth of groceries from the Stop & Shop in Dobbs Ferry by only scanning some of their groceries on the self-checkout line.
Store employees became suspicious after they saw two customers scan $141.14 worth of groceries on Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. The 22-year-old and 21-year-old were stopped and asked to have their items re-scanned by management.

Police said they were called when the actual cost of groceries came out to $395.62. The pair was arrested and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. They were released pending a court appearance on Jan. 31.
