
- The Irvington Historical Society's Annual Meeting, scheduled Friday at 7 p.m., wil feature special guest speaker Kevin Avery, Senior Research Scholar at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He will give a presentation on "The Painters of the Hudson and Its Hills," including Thomas Cole, Asher Durand, and Albert Bierstadt, who lived in Irvington. The talk will take place inside the auditorium of the Main Street School, located at 101 Main St. in Irvington, and is free and open to the public.
- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will host a fun-filled party complete with music, dancing, food and open bar Friday at Vintage Lounge & Bar Restaurant in White Plains for the 10th Anniversary of "Party for A Cure". - Capitol Heights Lyric Opera will present highlights from Georges Bizet's opera, Carmen, at the Irvington Public Library on Saturday at 2 p.m. This performance will feature Mezzo-Soprano Frances Devine as Carmen, Bass-Baritone Richard Cassell as Don Jose, with piano accompaniment by Martin Yazdzik. - The Post Road School in White Plains, located 175 W. Post Rd., is hosting a special needs resource fair Saturday at 11 a.m. Come out and learn about some of the special needs resources available to families in a relaxed, free, easy to navigate forum. There will be a wide range of vendors including therapists, recreational specialists, advocates, social groups, educators and more. Open to all and free.
- The Westchester Jazz Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Irvington Jazz Hall Theater Saturday at 8 p.m. For their only concert in Westchester this season, WJO will play masterworks from their vast repertoire of commissioned arrangements, including the Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun,” Stevie Wonder’s “Creepin’,” Herbie Hancock’s “Maiden Voyage” and Tom Jobim’s “Caminhos Cruzados.” Reserved seating tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for seniors and $15 for students. - Soprano Jennifer Foster joins the St. Thomas Orchestra Saturday at 8 p.m. for Mahler's emotional Symphony No. 4. Under the baton of STO Music Director Bernard Tamosaitis, the program also features Wagner's "A Siegfried Idyll," with a festive buffet reception to follow.
