Truck Driver Found Dead At I-87 Rest Stop In Westchester, NY State Police Investigate

ARDSLEY, NY — New York State Police say that they are investigating the death of a man found unresponsive early Wednesday morning, at the Ardsley Service Area on I-87.

Around 6:52 a.m., a 911 call was made after a man was found unconscious next to his tractor-trailer.

A crew from News 12 Westchester, who had been in the service area reporting on Thanksgiving Week travel, found the man and began CPR until police arrived at the scene.

When troopers arrived, they deployed a division-issued AED, which indicated no shock was advised.

The man was taken by Ardsley EMS to Westchester Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say an initial investigation determined that the incident was a natural medical event.

Troop T Troopers, Troop T supervisory personnel, and Troop K Bureau of Criminal Investigation are continuing to work to uncover the circumstances leading up to the medical emergency.

State police say the man's identity will not be released until next of kin is notified.
