Two Arrested in Connection with 2012 Hastings Robbery

Two Bronx men who allegedly displayed a handgun at Madaba Deli last year have been arrested.

The analyzation of photos and DNA evidence has led to the arrest of two Bronx men in connection with an early morning robbery dating back to August 23 in Hastings.

Police reported at the time that two men entered Madaba Deli (584 Warburton Ave.), displayed a handgun and fled the store with approximately $1,500 in cash and lottery tickets.

"Upon leaving the store, one of the suspects fired a shot which was later determined to be a blank," police said. "The suspects were wearing all black clothing and their faces were covered. They fled in a small white vehicle last seen traveling east on Villard Ave."

On January 4 of this year, Jeffrey Knight-Pena, a 22-year-old Bronx resident; and Efrain Febo, a 23-year-old Bronx resident, were arrested in connection with a burglary reported at Sam's Club in Elmsford on Dec. 26, 2012, police said.

"Photos taken of the suspects at the time of the arrest by the Greenburgh Police Department, and DNA Evidence recovered in Hastings by the Hastings on Hudson Detective Division, led to the identity of these two suspects," police said.

Investigators say property inside Knight's 1997 Dodge Avenger has been traced back to the alleged crime.

Hastings Police yesterday evening arrested Knight-Pena and Febo and they were arraigned in village court. Each are charged with Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony. Both have bail in Hastings set at $25,000.

In Greenburgh, according to jail records, Febo is each charged with Burglary in the Third Degree and his bail is set at $25,000.

Westchester County Jail records indicate Knight-Pena has two pending matters in Greenburgh—he is charged with Burglary in the Third Degree. In a separate case, he is charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Burglary in the Third Degree. His bail is set at $25,000 for each case.

Hastings Police said it is possible additional suspects will be arrested in connection with the August robbery.

Greenburgh Police, New York City Police, Westchester County Police and the Westchester County District Attorney's Office assisted in the investigation.
