New Westchester Symphony Orchestra Afternoon Gala
Where/When:Â Dobbs Ferry Woman's Club (145 Palisade St.) on Sunday, June 9 at 3 p.m.
Why go: Enjoy an afternoon of live, local music with food and drink in a casual environment. The gala will include performances of numbers by Bach, Mozart, Pleyel and Faure; as well as original music and live belly dancing.
Pricing: $25 in advance or at the door; free for children under 12
Charity Dodgeball Tournament
Where/When: Dobbs Ferry High School on Friday, June 7 at 6 p.m.
Why go: For the fifth consecutive year, DFHS students will take part in a dodgeball tournament that raises funds for a charity. This year, more than 30 teams are signed up for the "Ballin for Vets" tournament. Proceeds will be donated to The Mission Continues, a non-profit that serves US. veterans.Â

Barbecue 101
Where/When: Curious on Hudson on Saturday, June 8 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Why go: Check out Curious-on-Hudson’s outdoor terrace and enjoy a meal by pitmaster Steve Fretterd including ribs, beans, cornbread, coleslaw, pie and refreshments. Fretterd will go over methods and techniques for everything from setting up a barbecue to how to make the perfect marinade. There will be live music. Individuals can register in advance online. Namibia and the Republic of South Africa
Where/When: Irvington Public Library on Saturday, June 8 at 2 p.m.
Why go: Irma and Bob Mandel—the Travel Lights Duo—will be sharing a slideshow tour of their visit to Namibia and the Republic of South Africa.Â

Jazz in the Afternoon
Where/When: Neighborhood House (43 Wildey St. Tarrytown) on Sunday, June 9 at 3:30 p.m.
Why go: A trio of jazz musicians will be performing in a concert that will raise funds to support the Neighborhood House. Enjoy a preview of the Senior Art Workshop Summer Exhibit. Raffle drawing for gift certificates and other prizes.
