The man, trying to evade officers, ran through the backyards of multiple residences and destroyed a fence, police say.
ELMONT, NY — An Elmont man was arrested after injuring three officers who were trying to take him into custody, police said.
According to Nassau County police, the incident took place on Thursday at 3:50 p.m. in Elmont. Officers observed Hurguens Jasmin, 29, walking on South King Street and were aware of him having several open warrants for his arrest, detectives said.
As officers approached Jasmin, he attempted to flee on foot, running through the backyard of multiple residences and destroying a fence in the process, police said.

Jasmin was arrested and charged with three counts of second-degree assault; second-degree criminal mischief; third-degree criminal trespass; and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
He was slated for arraignment on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.

It wasn't the first time Jasmin became combative with police: In January, Jasmin "became violent and combative" when police tried to arrest him in Elmont, Nassau County officials said. He "punched one officer in the face numerous times, causing substantial pain and attempted to gouge out another officer’s eye while attempting to flee the scene," police said. He was placed under arrest during that incident, and charged with two counts of second-degree assault; resisting arrest; obstructing governmental administration and having an active Nassau County warrant, police said.
