Long Island's Jared Rhoden Shoots First NBA Bucket
The Baldwin native scored Tuesday night for the Detroit Pistons.
BALDWIN, NY — Jared Rhoden got his basketball skills at an early age. It was tuned at Baldwin High School, averaging more than 29 points per game. Despite his ability in high school and college at Seton Hall, Rhoden went undrafted.
On Tuesday night, he realized a professional dream, scoring his first points in the NBA.
Rhoden,23, signed with the Detroit Pistons on Dec. 26 and in the 4th quarter Tuesday night "number 8" hit a jumper against the Sixers.

Rhoden was initially signed by the Portland Trailblazers last summer, but was cut before the season started. He had been playing for the College Park Skyhawks, the "minor league" squad of the Atlanta Hawks.
