Crime Watch: $40K in Cash Stolen From Banks Ave. Home

The following information was supplied by the Rockville Centre Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrest:

On July 10 at 9:45 p.m., Lionel Hampton, 49, of Island Park, was arrested for petit larceny and possession of burglar tools following an investigation by police personnel on S. Park Avenue and Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.

Burglary: 

On July 10 at 9 p.m., a Banks Avenue, Rockville Centre resident reported that sometime between July 9 at 3 p.m. and July 10 at 8 p.m., unknown person(s) entered her apartment and stole property including a diamond ring valued at $1,700, a U.S. Passport and $40,000 without authorization.

On July 12 at 12:30 p.m., a Shore Road, Bellmore resident reported that sometime between July 11 at 9 p.m. and July 12 at 11:30 a.m., unknown person(s) damaged a window, entered her parent’s residence on S. Kensington Avenue in Rockville Centre without authorization and stole approximately $10 in coins.
