Crime Watch: GPS's Stolen and Assault with a Shovel

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Arrests:

On Jan. 28 at 6:57 p.m., Shamell D. Mullins, 20, of Rockville Centre was arrested for second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after reportedly striking and injuring two victims with a shovel while on Old Mill Court.

On Jan. 26 at approximately 11:27 p.m., Louis A. Veracruz, 21, of Valley Stream, was arrested for attempted petit larceny following a police investigation in Municipal Parking Field No. 1 in Rockville Centre.

On Jan. 26 at approximately 11:37 p.m., Jean F. Jean -Bart, 27, of Elmont, was arrested for fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property following a police investigation in Municipal Parking Field No.1 in Rockville Centre.

On Jan. 25 at 12:55 p.m., complainant manager from CVS Pharmacy located at 155 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole merchandise valued at approximately $200 without permission and was observed fleeing the scene in a 2010 Toyota.

On Jan. 26, a complainant from Oceanside Road in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between 1-7 a.m., unknown person(s) stole a GPS valued at $300 from his unlocked 2004 GMC parked in the driveway of his residence.

On Jan. 27, a complainant from Mandalay Beach Road in Wantagh reported that on Jan. 4 sometime between 8:30-11:30 p.m., unknown person(s) stole a GPS valued at $200 from his 2008 Jeep parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 8.

Forgery:

On Jan. 24, a complainant from Princeton Drive in Syosset reported that unknown person(s) forged paperwork in her name regarding a contract for a credit card processing machine for her dental office at 176 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre.

Fire:

On Jan. 27, a complainant from Birch Street in N. Merrick reported that his 1999 Ford All Island Taxi was stuck in snow at N. Village and Lakeview avenues in Rockville Centre when the engine compartment of his vehicle caught fire. RCFD responded and extinguished the fire.

Unusual Incident:

On Jan. 26, a complainant from N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between Jan. 24 and Jan. 26, unknown person(s) used her social security number to open a Best Buy credit card without authorization.
