Crime Watch, Part II: Stranger Incident on Wachusetts Street

Recent police activity as reported by the RVCPD.

Larceny

  • On May 21 at 2:45 p.m., the manager at Enterprise Car Rental reported a male, who has since died, rented a vehicle in April. The manager believes the vehicle is now in possession of the deceased man’s girlfriend and she is refusing to return it.
  • On May 21 at 1:45 p.m., a N. Village Avenue resident reported the theft of a bronze lawn statue valued at $5,000. Incident occurred overnight on May 15. Click here to read more on the stolen statue.
  • On May 21 at 10:38 p.m. a complainant from Rockville Centre reported that sometime between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., an unknown person(s) stole a black Fuji mountain bicycle valued at $100 from the vicinity of Front Street and N. Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre.
  • On May 26 at 6:51 p.m., a complainant from Rutland Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle valued at $8,000 from an unsecured garage at his residence.
  • On May 28 at 7:37 a.m., a complainant from Freeport reported that sometime between 5 p.m. on May 26 and 7 a.m. on May 28, an unknown person(s) damaged a trailer lock and brake key to a vehicle parked in the driveway of 140 N. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre. The suspect then stole landscaping equipment valued at $3,973.
Unusual Incident
  • On May 23 at 11:12 a.m., a complainant from South Side High School, located at 140 Shepherd St. in Rockville Centre, reported that she was informed by a male student from Old Mill Court in Rockville Centre that he had a dispute with a group from Freeport causing him to be fearful.
  • On May 23 at 3:45 p.m., a complainant from Rockville Centre reported that she was informed by Citibank that unknown person(s) charged $20,000 in solar panels against her MasterCard account.
  • On May 24 at 8:33 a.m., a complainant from Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) charged an Apple iPad against her Chase Visa credit card and three Apple iPads against her Citibank MasterCard through a Walmart account.
  • On May 29 at 12 p.m., a complainant from Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) opened a Best Buy Capital One credit card using his personal information and charged $605.14 against the account.
  • On May 29 at 6:20 p.m., a complainant from Wachusetts Street in Rockville Centre reported that two suspicious males -- approximately 30 years old -- while in a white SUV motor vehicle stopped to talk to her 11 and 4-year-old daughters for no legitimate reason and then were observed leaving the area westbound on Wachusetts Street.
Criminal Mischief
  • On May 23 at 11:02 a.m., the owner of Hair Machine, located at 40 S. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre, reported that at approximately 3:58 a.m., an unknown male damaged the front door of the business valued at $500. Click here to read more on the incident.
Property Damage
  • On May 26 at 6:11 p.m., a complainant from East Rockaway reported that sometime between 3:50 p.m. and 6 p.m., the driver side front of her Mercury motor vehicle was damaged by unknown means while parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 4 in Rockville Centre.
  • On May 29 at 6:11 p.m. a complainant from Far Rockaway reported that sometime between 8 a.m. and 8:20 a.m., the passenger side to his 2013 Nissan motor vehicle was damaged by unknown means while parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 3 in Rockville Centre.
