Driver Robbed at Gunpoint Saturday

A man was robbed at gunpoint as he sat in his car early Saturday in West Hempstead, according to Nassau County Police.

At 4:15 a.m., the 25-year-old victim was sitting in his car on Rose Avenue when a man opened the passenger door, cops said. The man “pointed what appeared to be a handgun” at the victim and demanded he hand over his belongings, police said. He then reached over the victim’s seat and grabbed the man’s cell phone, cops said.

The man then ordered the victim to drive away, police said. The victim cooperated and, once at a safe distance, called the police.
