Henri Brings Heavy Rain But Minimal Power Outages: PSEGLI
The downgraded storm impact on Long Island is "not expected to be as severe as previously anticipated," PSEGLI says.
UNIONDALE, NY — Long Island is getting soaked with heavy bands of rain from Henri, but power outages, at this point, are not a major concern.
PSEG Long Island says only 1,812 of its 1.1 million customers are without electricity across Nassau and Suffolk counties, as of 11 a.m. The utility company restored power to more than 1,000 customers since midnight, they said in a news release.
With the storm making landfall well to the east, "its impact is not expected to be as severe as previously anticipated, however, Tropical Storm Henri is expected to continue throughout today," PSEGLI said in a statement.

Gusts could eclipse 65 miles per hour during the day on the east end and 55-65 mph for the western portions of Long Island, the utility company cautions.
PSEGLI has more than 3,700 workers handling Henri, from line workers to tree trimmers. Crews will assess any damage and work to restore outages safely and as quickly as possible, they say.

But PSEGLI reminds people that crews can't work in bucket trucks to make repairs in high winds.
