The Diocese of Rockville Centre explained the health care worker masses:

"Masses for Health Care Professionals are special opportunities to ask God’s blessings for all those serving in the health care field— doctors, nurses, medical technicians, hospital administrators, emergency personnel and every dimension of staff service provided. We offer prayers for the safety and well-being of all health care workers and the people they serve. We remember and pray for the souls of all health care professionals who have died."
