LI Pols 'Sickened,' 'Disgusted' By Deadly Shooting At DC Jewish Museum
Two Israel Embassy staffers were killed on Wednesday night.

GLEN COVE, NY — Two people were shot and killed as they exited an event on Wednesday night at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington D.C. and the reaction has been swift from Long Island officials.
The victims were staffers in the Israeli Embassy.
The suspect shouted "Free, Free Palestine" upon his arrest, law enforcement officials said.

The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center (HMTC) is condemning the shooting.
In a statement on Thursday morning, Chairman Alan Mindel said, "We must not allow fear to silence our voices or diminish our commitment to understanding and respect."

Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-4) said on X that she was "sickened and horrified by the antisemitic attack."
Gillen added: "We must hold the perpetrators accountable to the fullest extent of the law and do everything possible to protect the Jewish community from targeted threats."
Gillen's Long Island colleague at the Capitol, Rep. Tom Suozzi (NY-3) said he's "disgusted by the senseless act."
He said antisemitism "must be condemned loudly and clearly by all."
Mindel said: "In times like these, it is crucial that we come together as a community to reaffirm our commitment to combating hate in all its forms. We urge individuals, organizations, and leaders across the nation to unite against such acts of violence and to promote a culture of mutual respect."
