LI Priest Andrew Connolly, Who Helped Poor Communities, Dies At 92
Reverend Connolly was part of the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — The Rev. Andrew Connolly worked as a priest on Long Island for decades, including his start in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. He died on Sept. 2.
Connolly was 92.
He was the last surviving priest from the ordination class of the Diocese of Brooklyn, a predecessor to the Diocese of Rockville Centre that was started in 1957, covering Nassau and Suffolk counties, Newsday said.

Connolly made it his mission to help the poorest people. One community where Connolly made a difference was in Wyandanch, where he helped build a community library, day care center and shelter for homeless people, Newsday reported.
