Man Charged With Identity Theft; Had Victims' State ID Cards: Police
Anyone who may have been the victim of Zhiyong Lin should call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS, police said.
BALDWIN, NY — A Brooklyn man was arrested for identity theft on Tuesday afternoon in Baldwin, police said.
Zhiyong Lin, 27, attempted to apply for a store credit card at the Best Buy on Sunrise Highway, police said.
An investigation revealed that Lin tried to open a credit card multiple time using different names and forms of identification, authorities said.

He was placed into custody without incident.
Subsequent to the investigation, Lin was found to be in possession of several New York State identification cards belonging to multiple victims, police said.

Anyone who feels they may have been the victim of Lin should contact the First Squad at 516-573-7153 or Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
Lin is charged with three counts of second-degree identity theft, second-degree attempted identity theft, three counts of second-degree forgery and two counts of third-degree unlawful possession of personal identification. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
