
BALDWIN, NY — One person died from a house fire in Baldwin on Tuesday night, police said.
The Talmadge Drive residence had smoke bellowing from the home just before 9 p.m.
Detectives, who were in the area on a separate call, were in the home to search for occupants until heavy smoke, heat and flames drove them back, police said.

Emergency Service Unit officers and the Baldwin Fire Department eventually got inside and located a man with extensive burns. He was removed and brought to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.
The fire is being investigated.
