Mobile Sports Betting Can Begin This Weekend In NY
Sites such as DraftKings and FanDuel can begin operations on Jan. 8.
ALBANY, NY — The multibillion-dollar sports-betting industry is coming to New York.
The state's Gaming Commission approved four online platforms to start taking wagers-- DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars Sportsbook and Rush Street Interactive.
Having completed all statutory and regulatory requirements, mobile sports betting can begin as early as Sat., Jan. 8.

However, the commission said in a news release, each company will make the determination when to accept wagers based on its business capabilities and readiness.
DraftKings said on Twitter they will be ready to immediately start taking wagers in the Empire State. FanDuel also hinted at a Saturday debut on social media.

The five other conditionally licensed mobile sports-wagering operators will work toward accomplishing the government's needs. The commission said those businesses will be approved on a rolling basis.
