Molloy University Holds Annual MLK Day Of Service

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Molloy University hosts its annual MLK Day of Service on Monday.

The day begins with a keynote presentation, "Cultivating Call and Response for Service and Social Action," by Lisa Zakiya Newland, Chairperson of Molloy's Department of Social Work.

Thereafter, a mini resource fair will be held, during which attendees will interact with non-profit organizations as they showcase a variety of service activities.

Among the activities:

• Smile Bags Workshop where students decorate and assemble “smile bags” for distribution to children and teens in local hospitals
• Literacy Care Packages Workshop where students will prepare books and other language and literacy materials for underserved communities locally and abroad.
• Hands-on CPR and NARCAN training workshops where students will prepare books and other language and literacy materials for underserved communities locally and abroad.

It starts at 9:15 in the Public Square of the Molloy campus.

Molloy held its first event to honor Martin Luther King Jr. in 2019 with the goal of inspiring others to take action within their communities.
