OCEANSIDE, NY — Mount Sinai South Nassau has earned a prestigious honor. The hospital's Cardiac Catheterization Lab received the gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence.

It is given by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) for providing exceptional patient care in a healthy work environment.

"We are relentless in our pursuit to raise the standards for quality, safety, outcomes, and patient experience,” said Dr. Adhi Sharma, President, Mount Sinai South Nassau.

To earn the three-year, three-level award (with gold, silver, or bronze designation), the lab’s staff demonstrated that it aligns with the six AACN Healthy Work Environment Standards while meeting the distinction's patient care and work environment criteria.

“Communication, collaboration, and teamwork are hallmarks of quality patient care,” said Stacey Conklin, Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services. “Our Cardiac Catheterization Lab team puts patients first and uses evidence-based practices to improve patient and family outcomes."
